The WVPC was established in and is located on the Location: Maccorkle Ave SE, Charleston, WV. PREFACE. The importance of exact chemical analysis in a great variety of cases which come before the courts is now fully recognized, and the translation of this excellent little book on Legal Chemistry, by one of the most distinguished French Chemists, will be appreciated by a large class of American readers who are not able to consult the original.

The book connects the micro (chemistry) to the macro (history). Most of the connections are fascinating, if at times a bit of a stretch. My favorites detailed scurvy (ascorbic acid), fertilizer (ammonia), antibiotics (sulfa drugs), the pill (progesterone), and malaria (quinine) all of which demonstrated the role of knowledge in pushing forward 4/5. 1.
